What is JailBreaking? What are some Major Advantages & Disadvantages of it

JailBreaking is the process of allowing to modify your device to change its behavior & Apple restriction.

Most of the people having an iPhone, iPad or iPod have probably heard of the term JailBreaking. On a surface, JailBreaking might seem as simple as plugging a device into a computer, clicking a button, waiting a few minutes and Jailbreaking is done. Is it...! Noooo, But in reality, it's not an easy procedure as you think. There are many steps involved in the JailBreaking, if it is done properly then well good if not then you may need to try a new iPhone.

What does JailBreaking actually mean?

JailBreaking means gaining the ability to install Third-party Apps on your device which is legal, but Apple does not want you to do it, because they want the control the user experience, which is same for everyone.

The JailBreak involves control of the root & media partition of the device. This is where all the iOS files are stored, in order to be controlled the private/etc/fstab must be patched.

The main problem is not getting the modified code in but getting it through certain checkpoints, Apple put in the checkpoints to verify if the file is legit or from a Third Party App. Every file is signed with the Digital signature or key, and without it the file is useless.

So how we get these keys?

Apple doesn't give them very easily, we either have to undo the lock by patching every single checkpoint.

So those are all the things behind JailBreaking. As Y'all can see it is not a simple task it requires more time & effort. And If you are not worried about the Apple Warranty then you can try JailBreaking.

Advantages of Jailbreaking?

• The main Advantage of doing jailbreaking on your iOS is you can customize your phone the way you need (like changing of themes, adding fonts & colors)
• You can easily download any Application, video, audio music and share it.
• You can check your File Manager like compared to Android.  
• Most of the paid Apps will be free for the Jailbreaking Devices.

The disadvantage of JailBreaking?

• If you install the JailBreaking then at the first step you lost your Warranty.
• iPhone is said to be the most secure device compared to Android but once you do Jailbreaking then the iPhone security is lost.
• The user can not update the software in future updates.
• And the Battery power will be Shortened after the JailBreak.
